We look forward to leaning a lot together.  Class Schedule: Friday 10:00-11:50 Monday 19:00 - 20:３0 Calendar: March 12, April 19, and May 17, 2010 (3 lessons in total)  Instructor: Mr. Makoto Nakamura Mr. Nakamura is an official instructor of the Nippon Bonsai Association, and teaches at Shonan School of Bonsai, Kanagawa prefectural botanic garden, among others. His black pine “wind swept style” was exhibited at the renowned Sakufu-Exhibition, in Ueno, 2008.

Message to the students from   Mr. Nakamura: Bonsai is a living art. When you see bonsai, you can imagine the background of the tree. You can imagine the place the tree has grown, such as a calm forest, sunny seashores, dense foggy mountains, a windy cliff, etc. Also you can feel the weather, seasons, time, histories, and sometimes the future of the bonsai.  To make someone feel the nature of bonsai, we should learn several basic methods and acquire advanced knowledge about bonsai. In this class, utilizing these methods and this knowledge, you will get to imagine the future style of your own bonsai.

先生からのメッ セージ: 「盆栽は『生きた芸術』と言われていますが、盆栽を見ていると、その背景が目に浮かんできます。背景として見えてくるのは、その植物が育った環境、例え ば、静寂な森、晴れ渡った海岸、霧深い山々、強風が吹きつける断崖などであろうかと思いますが、それだけでなく、盆栽とつながる空の上を流れる雲のさま、 季節の移り変わり、時間の経過や歴史、そして、時には、将来の姿まで感じることができるでしょう。 盆栽を見る人に、自然の風景を感じ取ってもらうには、いくつかの基本的な決まりごとを学び、知識を得ることが大切です。この講座では、教材ごとにその将来 像を考えながら、そこに近づくための方法を楽しく身につけていただきたいと思います。」

Fees:All the prices include consumption tax. Registration Fee: None  Tuition Fee per Class: 5,250 yen (5,000 yen + tax) Material Expense per Class *: 4,725 yen (4,500 yen + tax)  Application Deadline: March 5 for March class, April ８ for April class, May ６ for May class. Payment: Payment should be made through bank transfer no later than March 9 for March class, April 14 for April class, and May 12 for May class. Once the payment has been made, it will not be refunded.
