Delve into Japanese Culture@ I-House

Kisako and International House of Japan ( will collaboratively start Japanese culture sessions in November 2014, for foreigners who are interested in learning more about Japanese culture and Japanese people who would like to learn or re-discover their own culture in English.

International House of Japan, or I-House, has been facilitating international community through unique and well-designed programs more than sixty years.  I-House is located amid a pastoral setting in Roppongi and has a lovely Japanese garden as well as historical buildings.

All the cultural sessions will be held at I-House, and we will hold three sessions during this 2014-2015 season:

Session 1 – Japanese Garden

Date:  Thursday, November 27, 2014
Lecturer:  Mr. Sadafumi Uchiyama (Garden curator at the Portland Japanese Garden)

Session 2 - Kabuki

Date:  Saturday, January 24, 2015
Lecturer:  Ms. Yumiko Aoyagi (Associate professor at Tokyo Seitoku University)

Session 3 – Sumie (brush-ink painting)

Date:  Late March or early April
Lecturer:  Mr. Jim Hathaway (Sumie artist)
